Description
Candelabra in the form of a Greek caryatid.
Made of reconstituted marble (marble powder with resin). Antique patina finish with natural earth.
Height: 30 cm.
The figure reproduced here is a candelabrum in the form of a caryatid, one of the most famous decorative details of classical Greece.
Caryatids, columns in the shape of women, can be found in buildings on the Acropolis in Athens, such as the Erechtheion, as well as in numerous monuments and buildings both from antiquity and from the last five centuries. Their solemn hieratic appearance and the elaborate bodice that encircles their bodies are striking.
