Aphrodite de Milo, better known as Venus de Milo, is an ancient Hellenistic statue and one of the most famous works of ancient Greek sculpture. It was produced between 130 and 100 BC, it is believed to represent Aphrodite, the Greek goddess of love and Beauty (Venus for the Romans). The original is a marble sculpture of 203 cm high. The original arms and socket have been lost after their discovery. Of an inscription that was on his pedestal, it is believed that the work is of Alexandros of Antioch; The original is currently in the exhibition at the Louvre Museum in Paris. The statue is named after the Greek island Milos, where it was discovered.
