Reproduction of an Olmec head. The most representative sculptures of the Olmec culture are the colossal heads, which are around 2.5 m high. They are heads with a male face, wearing a helmet, probably representing warriors, but their function is unknown. Most of the heads are dated to the Early Preclassic Period (1,500 – 1,000 BC).
