Description
High quality reproduction of a decorative figure, made in reconstituted marble (marble powder agglutinated with chronolite) and finely polished. Patinated with acrylics and natural earths that give it the finish of a sculpture embellished by the passage of time.
Measurements: Width: 25 cm. Depth: 12 cm. Height: 28 cm.
The bust reproduced here is inspired by a work by the Italian Renaissance sculptor Desiderio da Settignano (c. 1429 – 1464). On display in the National Gallery, Washington D.C., USA. With no attributes identifying it as a religious figure, it is probably a portrait of a child.
The son of a stonemason from the village of Settignano, Desiderio developed as a sculptor in Florence in the circle of Donatello, achieving some recognition for his marble portraits of women and children.
