The Geometric Period is an archaeological period in Greece from 1200 BC to the 8th century BC, also known as the Dark Ages, following the end of the Mycenaean civilisation and the invasion of the Dorian peoples, before the rise of Classical Greece. The period takes its name from the decorative style of pottery from this period.
