Reproduction of an ancient sculpture by the Greek sculptor Scopas (350 BC) which is in the British Museum.
It is the bust of Meleager who was a legendary hunter and powerful warrior, son of the king of Calidon, named Eneo, and of Altea. His exploits are narrated by Homer.
In Roman times this type of sculpture was in great demand for the decoration of villas.
