Frédéric Chopin (1810 – 1849) was a Polish composer and virtuoso pianist of the Romantic period, who wrote mainly for piano. Already in his time Chopin gained worldwide renown, which has remained to the present day, as one of the most outstanding musicians of his time, whose “poetic genius was based on a professional technique that was unequalled in his generation.”
