Franz Liszt in Hungarian Liszt Ferencz (1811 – 1886) was an Austro-Hungarian composer, pianist, conductor, theater director, music teacher and writer. Liszt was one of the most prominent piano virtuoso and one of the most prolific composers of the nineteenth century. He has composed in many different styles and genres, he was with his symphonic poems, a pioneer of “program music”.
