Measurements- Height: 61cm. Width: 27cm. Background: 22cm.
The sculpture is a replica of the bust of Athena Parthenos with a helmet with Pegasus. This is supposed to be the famous sculpture of Phidias of the Parthenon of the Acropolis of Athens.
Athena was born from the head of the king of the gods, Zeus, already an adult and armed. She was the protective goddess of the city of Athens, which dedicated its main temple, the Parthenon, located on the Acropolis, to her. In the temple, there was a colossal statue of Athena Parthenos (“virgin”) created by the great Athenian sculptor Phidias in marble and gold. The temple’s pediments depict two scenes from the goddess’s life: her birth and her dispute with the sea god Poseidon for the patronage of Athens. She also protected Greek heroes such as Perseus and Odysseus. Her attributes include the olive tree, the owl, the helmet, the spear, the aegis, and the shield with the head of Medusa.
Reproductions of sculptures of gods and heroes from Greco-Roman mythology, like this bust of Athena, is a special and timeless addition to the decoration of any space. These sculptures of mythological themes are ideal elements for decorating not only indoor spaces like libraries, living rooms, or offices but also outdoors, adding a classic touch to our gardens, patios, or terraces.
When we incorporate these sculptures into the decoration of our homes, we create a unique connection between the past and the present. The exquisite nature of these artistic reproductions not only beautifies the environment but also invites reflection on the meaning of classical myths and their cultural heritage that has endured over the centuries.
