The Apollo of Belvedere also called the Pythian Apollo, is a famous marble sculpture of classical antiquity. It was rediscovered in the late fifteenth century, during the Renaissance. Since the middle of the eighteenth century, it was considered the best antique sculpture by the neoclassicists; and during centuries it was considered the epitome of the ideals of aesthetic perfection in the European and Western culture.
