Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756 – 1791) was a prolific composer and the most famous and influential of classicism. A child prodigy, he was already composing music at the age of five. He composed more than 600 works, many of which are recognised as pinnacles of symphonic, concertante, chamber, operatic, and choral music. Mozart is one of the most popular classical composers, and his influence on later music is profound; Beethoven composed his early works in Mozart’s shadow, and Joseph Haydn wrote that in 100 years no such talent will be seen again.
