William Shakespeare (1564 – 1616) was an English poet, playwright, and actor, considered by many as the greatest writer in the English language. His existing works, including some collaborations, consist of around 38 plays, 154 sonnets, two long narrative poems, and several other verses, the authorship of some of which is uncertain. His works have been translated into almost every language, and more copies are made of his works than of any other playwright.
Shakespeare is considered one of the most influential writers in universal literature. Known as “the Bard of Avon,” his vast output includes tragedies such as “Hamlet,” “Romeo and Juliet,” “King Lear,” or “Macbeth,” and comedies such as “A Midsummer Night’s Dream,” “The Taming of the Shrew,” or “The Merchant of Venice.” Many of his works have been adapted into films and are still performed in theaters worldwide. In his work, Shakespeare creates a series of complex and universal characters that span a wide range of behaviors and motivations, showcasing his ability to explore human nature. His theatrical works continue to have special relevance even today; the timelessness of his themes and characters make him one of the great geniuses of literature of all time.
Sculptures of famous figures and writers like Shakespeare as decorative elements can inspire us and bring their works to the present, reminding us of great universal themes such as love, fate, and duty.
