The sculpture is a reproduction of a bust of Plato made by the Neapolitan sculptor Sommer in 1890.
Plato was one of Greece’s leading philosophers. He lived from 427 to 347 BC. He was a disciple of Socrates and a teacher of Aristotle. His influence has been felt through the centuries with great force up to the present day. Plato’s philosophy can be identified as the philosophy of Unity. A philosophy that inspires a model of human fulfilment: seeking truth, doing good, promoting justice and creating beauty.
