Reproduction of the bust of Ares Borghese from the Louvre Museum. The Ares Borghese is a Roman marble statue from the Imperial era (1st or 2nd century AD). The Louvre Museum’s piece is a statue that stands 2.11 meters tall and is identifiable as Ares by the helmet and ankle ring, given to him by his lover Aphrodite. This statue possibly retains some characteristics of the original bronze work from the 5th century BC, which is now lost.
