Asuras are divinities in Buddhist religion, derived from the asuras or demons of Hinduism. In Buddhism, they are considered as semi-gods or lesser deities, often at war with other gods. They live at the foot of Mount Meru and are characterized as warlike deities subject to violent passions, pride, vanity, and anger.
