Description
Reproduction of a Buddha figure in high density resin. A decorative element of great beauty and with precise details.
Measurements: Width: 32 cm. Depth: 20 cm. Height: 48 cm.
The image of the crowned and bejewelled Buddha belongs to the Eastern school of medieval art, which was widespread in Bengal, Bihar and Benares. This appearance raised questions among researchers, because at first glance it was a deviation from the canonical image of Buddha, in human form and invariably unadorned and unjewelled. Since, by adopting an ascetic way of life, the Bodhisattva stripped himself of opulent robes, some researchers believe that the crowned Buddha image is neither canonical nor traditional.
