Satyrs, deities of the forest, are often depicted with goat’s feet. Together with the Maenads they form the “Dionysian retinue” accompanying the god Dionysus, deity of wine, enthusiasm, rebirth and ecstasy. They may also be associated with the god Pan, deity of wild nature.
