The neoclassical sculpture that we are reproducing is known as: “Jason and the Fleece“. Jason was a hero of Greek mythology. He embarked on the ship Argos together with the Argonauts, among whom were other heroes such as the twins Castor and Pollux, Orpheus and Heracles, arriving at the Colchis (Black Sea) in search of the Golden Fleece, a golden ram’s skin that was guarded by a dragon, and in whose conquest he was aided by the sorceress Medea.
