Polychrome bas-relief inspired by Sandro Botticelli’s work, “Venus and Mars.” Venus, awake, observes Mars sleeping while little fauns frolic around them. The allegory is of a humanistic theme; Venus symbolizes love triumphing over Mars, who is the symbol of discord and war.
In classical mythology, Venus, identified in Rome with the Greek goddess Aphrodite, is the goddess of love, beauty, and fertility. The myth tells of Venus’s birth from the waters, arising from the foam generated by the genitals of the sky god, Uranus, mutilated by his son Cronus-Saturn. Venus represents love in all its facets, ranging from universal harmony to human desire and passion, beauty, and seduction. Venus had various lovers, both divine, like Mars, the god of war, brother of her legitimate husband, the blacksmith god Vulcan; or human, like the beautiful Adonis, whose death led Venus to descend to Hades.
The decoration with reliefs inspired by classical Greco-Roman antiquity offers the opportunity to achieve a unique fusion of history and art.
Reproductions of Renaissance and Neoclassical reliefs create a unique atmosphere that evokes the greatness of past civilizations, merging with contemporary design and style. These bas-reliefs thus become central pieces of decoration that not only beautify the space but also tell stories of past centuries, creating a timeless connection between the past and the present.
Decorating with art serves to bring beauty not only to our home but also to the soul, enriching it with meaning.
