Bas-relief of Gradiva. Reproduction of the bas-relief known as Gradiva, existing in the Chiaramonti Museum, part of the Vatican Museums. It is a Greek bas-relief from the 4th century BC. It depicts a young woman walking resolutely, hence it is known as “the one who walks”, “the one who advances”.
It is known that Freud acquired a copy of this Gradiva relief, which he placed near the famous couch on the wall of his study.
Art reproductions, like this Gradiva relief, help us create a special atmosphere of refinement and good taste in decorating the favorite corners of our home, both indoors and outdoors. These pieces can be placed on walls and niches, in spaces such as the office, the living room, the terrace, or the garden, attracting attention and evoking curiosity and admiration in anyone who contemplates them.
In the living room, reliefs can serve as decorative elements highlighting one of the walls or complementing the overall aesthetics of the room. In offices and libraries, these pieces integrate with the shelves or on a wall, adding a touch of distinction to the room’s decor.
By incorporating these classical reliefs into the design of a space, we manage to merge the beauty of the past with contemporary aesthetics, creating a harmonious and personality-filled environment.
Classical art not only beautifies our home but also tells stories and myths from other times, establishing a timeless connection between the past and the present.
