Relief based on a painting by Klimt belonging to the Stoclet frieze, which decorates a dining room. The dominant motif of the painting is the “spiral tree” which forms the axis of the frieze. The couple depicted in this frieze, created around the same time as “The Kiss” and with a formal resemblance, differ from the painting by an increase in ornamentation which makes the figures lose themselves in the abstraction of their clothes. Orejudo took advantage of these forms and the beautiful colours of their costumes to create a new work.
