The weight of the heart is a symbolic representation, the heart represents the life that the deceased lived; for the ancient Egyptians the heart was the place of thought, emotion and life itself. If someone was very attached to material things and had many vices, the heart will be heavy, devoured by the monster that represents material nature, where everything dies and is born. If, on the other hand, his life was clean and pure, the heart will be light and will be able to pass into the Amenti, the Land of Amon.
