Reproduction of Amon Ra, fragment of the South Gate of Thebes. This piece shows a clear example of Egyptian ability to unite symbolic meanings. Amon Ra is the spirit of the sun, the red circle represents the solar activity, the two cobras with forms of “Aker” divinity that guarded the birth and the setting of the sun, emblems of the past and the future, are «those that raise the sun God that shines in the horizon» , the goddesses Isis and Nephthys. The wings are those of Nekhebet, the Vulture goddess, or also the wings of Mut, consort of Ammon in Thebes, thus signifying the feminine principle. Feathers remind us of the sun’s rays. The wings are crowned by the horns of the god Ram Khum, the bumper of the darkness, symbolizing in this way the victory of the light in front of the darkness, of order before the chaos.
