It was built in 1908 on the Mediterranean coast, between Nice and Monaco. The Villa Kerylos is an invitation to immerse ourselves in ancient Greece. A recreation of the noble houses of the island of Delos from the 2nd century BC.
It is a true homage to Greek civilization by two lovers of the Greek world, Teodhore Reinach, archaeologist and patron, and Emmanuel Pontremoli, archaeologist and architect.
Kerylos means allion or sea swallow, poetic mythological animal, and as in a poem it takes us by the hand of imagination to a dreamed world… or lived one.
Villa Kerylos has become a reference point for inspiration in decoration and architecture, bringing the canons of ancient Greece closer to our current imagination.
